Submissions

DO NOT email your submissions to CMAX administrators. Post a new topic confirming your submission to the Submissions Forum. The subject line should contain the recipient's name and the month of entry, and the body of the post should contain a link to the submitted art.

Please endeavour to keep all submissions to a single file of as small a size as possible. We recommend a width and/or height of around 500-1000 pixels, and maximum size of 200kb for quick loading. JPEG and GIF formats are acceptable, as are Shockwave Flash animations - basically, anything that will display on standard web browser software without requiring special plugins.

Be aware that many webspace providers do not allow direct off-site linking of images (ie the link to your image doesn't work even though it is a valid address). If you believe this to be true of your provider, mark the link to your submission with a note to 'copy link into new browser window', or embed the image in a .html file and link to that.

Important Dates

CMAX is held on a monthly rotation, with actual numerical start and end dates varying each month. Be sure to check the deadline dates on all CMAX notices & material.

For any given CMAX month:

Start of month:

  • Assignment emails are sent out to the month's entrants.
  • Sign-up for next month opens.

During the month:

  • Entrants work on their submissions.
  • Adoptions are posted/updated.

End of month:

  • Deadline for submissions.
  • Sign-up for next month closes.

Time will be measured by the CMAX Message Board dating system, to avoid confusion and debate over submitting times. The start and end of a day is marked as 12:00am.

Adoptions

Any entrant who has (or is suspected to have) lost their partner during or after a month's CMAX will be put up for 'adoption'. Adoption requests will be posted in the Adoption Centre.

[ Adoption Listings ]

Adoption requests will occur:

  • Upon an entrant's request to withdraw.
  • Mid-way through the month, for any unfilled submissions.

Any CMAX entrant (past or present) is eligible to take up an adoption.

Adoptions are not subject to any deadlines. If you wish to adopt someone for a given month, it is up to you to sign up in the Adoption Centre and to undertake the adoption.

More than one CMAX entrant may take up a single given adoption request. A CMAX entrant may take up several different adoption requests in the same month if they so desire.

All adopted submissions must be posted to the Adoption Centre as a reply to the original adoption request.

Records

Records of previous CMAX months are available here, and are updated once a week. These include a status report for tracking the state of submissions; as well as adoption requests, entrant-pair histories and past sign-up lists.

If you have reason to believe these records are inaccurate, please contact a CMAX administrator.

Final Words

The judgements of CMAX administrators with regards to submissions and these rules are final and without question. Our aim is to provide maximum reward and submission-security for all entrants involved.

If you as an artist feel you can not produce work on time, and to the best of your ability - we ask that you refrain from signing up for CMAX.
